EMPODAT: database of geo-referenced monitoring and bio-monitoring data on emerging substances in air, water and soil

The EMPODAT database consists of two inter-linked modules:

  • The Chemistry module for monitoring/occurrence data on emerging substances which are already known to be present in the environment but which are not yet included in routine monitoring programmes.
  • The Bio-monitoring module for data obtained from bio-monitoring approaches, i.e., biological effects measured by bio-assays and biomarkers in different environmental matrices.

EMPODAT is designed to allow:

  • Access to the latest information on emerging pollutants, with an overview of benchmark values on the occurrence of emerging substances across Europe;
  • Identification of gaps in data relating to time, geographical areas and/or environmental matrices.

How to submit the data

The web application database is available for data providers and members of the NORMAN network registered via EMPOMAP. Data can be entered either directly through web-entry form (single data entries) or with use of Data Collection Templates (bulk data).

For more information and conditions for the inclusion of your data in the NORMAN databases, please, contact us via Chairman of the Norman Association – Jaroslav SLOBODNIK.
